What to do in Toulon ?
The capital of the Var does not lack attractions. Nestled between the coast and a hilly hinterland, the old town is a testimony to the city’s richness. Start with a walk in the old city center to discover its architectural heritage, witness of centuries of history.
The tourist office suggests you follow several itineraries to explore every corner of the Var capital. The “circuit of fountains”, “Toulon unusual”, “nature in the city”, so many opportunities to explore this jewel of the French Riviera in a different way. Add the Arts District where artists, galleries and designer boutiques energize the historic core.
Toulon also hosts the largest market in Provence. Don’t miss the colorful stalls with the many scents of Provence that are set up on Cours Lafayette. This regional event takes place every morning from Tuesday to Sunday. It is impossible to avoid this Mediterranean institution. For gourmets, a detour to the Biltoki Market is a must. The latter houses 25 food traders in a splendid Art Deco building.
What to do in Toulon by the sea ?
Do you feel like cooling off or lounging on the sand during your vacation at our campsite with pool in the Var? In this case, opt for a farniente stopover on the beaches of Mourillon. This succession of coves located east of the city has been awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its bathing water. Easily accessible, it is an ideal choice for families.
The Mejean and Magaud coves offer a landscape more typical of the Var coast with their pebble beaches and pine trees clinging to the cliff. Snorkelers, put on your mask and snorkel! These two sites are for you.
Between two baths, take the coastal path to get some height and admire the panorama. Exceptional! Then come back to the center of the city without leaving the seaside. Stop at the Fort Saint-Louis, then at the Royal Tower to have a view on the whole harbor of Toulon. Finish on the docks for an ice cream or a drink while watching the activity of the port.

Start by going to the top of the mountains of Toulon. The one at Mont Faron is easily accessible. This 584 m high hill gives you the opportunity to take a rather unusual means of transportation at this altitude: a cable car! At the top, panorama on the roadstead of Toulon, the Grande Bleue and the hinterland of Var. From there you can walk around the sublime point. The trails are suitable for families. The view is breathtaking.
The other mountains (Coudon, Baou de Quatre Aures, Croupatier and Caume) provide just as many opportunities to go hiking. From the easiest to the most athletic paths, you will be amazed by the Provencal landscape, the garrigue, the cicadas, the scents of thyme and rosemary, the blue horizon. The Bonnes Herbes valley offers a magnificent forest of umbrella pines. It is a wild, green and particularly soothing site west of the city.
